1. Check the exact device and edition

“On console” is a useful starting point, but it does not tell you whether a game supports your particular console model. Open the full store listing and check the device name. On a computer, read the operating system, memory, graphics and storage requirements. A Windows listing does not automatically mean Mac support.

2. Confirm your region and currency

Use the storefront appropriate for your Canadian account. Check the currency shown at checkout, any added tax and the final total before paying. This guide does not quote prices because listings, promotions and editions can change. A familiar currency symbol alone is not enough to establish the final cost.

3. Understand what the purchase includes

Read whether you are buying the base game, an expansion or a bundle. Some extra content requires a separate base game. Check whether the offer is a one-time purchase or access tied to a subscription, and read the current cancellation and refund terms in that store.

4. Plan multiplayer before game night

Local co-op, online multiplayer and cross-platform play describe different things. Confirm how many people can join, whether everyone needs a copy, and whether a platform subscription is required. If your group uses different devices, check compatibility for the specific editions involved.

5. Review content and accessibility

Look at the age rating and content descriptors instead of judging suitability from colourful artwork. Check text size, subtitles, controller options and other accessibility features that matter to you. If something is unclear, use the official support channel before purchasing.

6. Use the official starting point

Our five game guides identify the developer or publisher of each game. Check the store and product details before entering payment details. Playtrail does not collect payments, provide activation keys or offer game downloads.

Keep your purchase confirmation and the store's support information somewhere easy to find. That makes edition questions and support requests easier to resolve.
